Requirements for onion growing conditions

Loves watering.
Onions do not tolerate shaded areas well, so sowing should be placed in a well-lit area. Soils are preferably loose, structural, with a high content of nutrients.
Preparing seeds for planting
Senchik is an onion obtained from seeds. To obtain uniform shoots, to improve the quality of onions and their yield, it is necessary to prepare the seeds. This can be done in the following ways:
- soaking seeds before planting;
- treatment with microelements
- heating the seeds in hot water (50-60 minutes at a temperature of 40-45 degrees, and then, after draining the water, place in a warm place until individual seeds begin to hatch);
- bubbling, pelleting

The main points of Senchik agricultural technology
It is better to sow in the first days of spring field work. If you use very early sowing, the seeds are planted dry.
The seeding depth is 3-4 centimeters.
After sowing in the furrows, the soil is compacted. This can be done using the edge of a board or the back of a rake. It is good to mulch the rows with sawdust or humus in order to prevent the formation of a crust on the soil, which will interfere with germination.
Onions must be kept loose and clean, free of weeds.
When 2-3 true leaves appear, you need to thin out the seedlings (3-4 cm apart). And after another couple of weeks - at a distance of 5-6 cm between plants.
The crops need to be watered 6-10 times, moistening the soil to a depth of 20 cm.
If growth is weak, then it is necessary to fertilize with organic and mineral fertilizers.
It is better to stop watering 20-30 days before harvesting.
Harvesting and storing onions
Most often, onions are harvested in August. By this time, the leaves turn yellow, the neck with the upper scales of the senchik bulb dry out.
Cleaning is carried out in dry weather. Leave in the garden or under a canopy for 1-2 weeks until completely aired.
When the onion is dry, its tops are cut off, leaving only 3-4 centimeters.
You don’t have to trim it, leaving only the roots. In this case, the onion is tied into a “braid”. It looks very impressive, in addition to being useful, so you can decorate your kitchen with such weaving.
Store onions well in boxes at a temperature of 1-3 degrees Celsius. Be sure to ventilate periodically.

Growing onions from senchik
The soil is prepared in the same way as for sowing seeds.
Planting of senchik in the soil in the spring is carried out later than seeds, in loose and warmed soil. The usual date is early April.
First, small senchik bulbs are cut to the shoulders and soaked.
They are planted in grooves: 12-15 cm between the bulbs and 6-7 cm in the row.
Such onions grow well on turnips and when planted in winter.
