Fertilizers for onions - how and when to use them

At first glance it seems that simple bow does not require any special approach. But more experienced summer residents know that planting onions needs some preparation to get a good harvest. The meaning of the preparation is in the fertilizers that are used when growing onions. Onions require good feeding, especially during the period of active growth. That's why fertilizers for onions must be in sufficient quantity. Now there are companies that create special fertilizers suitable for growing onions.

You need to use a complex composed of organic and mineral substances. Then the soil will be well prepared for onion growth. Fertilizers must be applied in two stages. The first stage is underway when cutting up the land and soil preparation. A basic dose of fertilizer is added to make the soil fertile. The second portion is laid when sowing onions. Fertilizers for onions play an important role - they create favorable conditions for its germination and maturation.

Bulbs consume large amounts of nutrients from the soil, but when fertilized Do not overdo it with organic substances. They can create conditions for the growth of the green part, while the onion itself will develop more slowly. Plus with manure you can introduce weed seeds, therefore it is not abused when preparing the soil for planting onions. But there should be enough mineral fertilizers.

There should be a minimum amount of nitrogen fertilizers, but phosphorus and potassium accelerate growth and onion development. If there is an excess of nitrogen, the plant will grow slower. In the future, such bulbs will rot faster. But it is impossible to overdo it with potassium, since it has a beneficial effect on onions. When applying fertilizer, you should always know its composition, as this will help affect the harvest.

I’ve never applied fertilizer for onions, but next year I’ll probably try, otherwise with these rains there’s no yield, maybe fertilizers will at least help.
