Planting dill and parsley on the windowsill

parsley, dill, windowsill, winter

In winter, we really want vitamins on our table, and vitamins are fresh fruits and vegetables, and also everyone’s favorite greens, the most common are dill and parsley. Of course, we can buy all this in stores, but it’s not very difficult, and it’s difficult to grow greens at home, on the windowsill.

Planting dill and parsley on a windowsill is not such a complicated process as it might seem at first glance. To do this, we go to a specialized store where you can buy soil, seeds, as well as boxes or pots.

Soil, it is better to purchase soil for violets, it is ideal in composition for any greenery. It is better to use boxes for planting, as they will hold a large number of seeds than in a flower pot. After all, you plant all this not for beauty, but for food! And if you want to save on pots, then take tetra bags of juices, purees and other products, cut them in the middle and rinse thoroughly with hot water, and make 3 small holes in the bottom for air circulation.

Seeds of dill and parsley should be placed in gauze folded in two layers and poured with a warm light solution of potassium permanganate and left for a day. Then, in a prepared container with soil, we make grooves, no more than two cm deep. We place the seeds in these grooves and sprinkle them with soil. In order for the first shoots to appear faster, watering should be done daily 2 times a day, in small portions.

An important rule for planting dill and parsley on a windowsill is the presence of light. becausedue to its absence, your plants will be light green in color and will not be pleasing to the eye. In this situation, a fluorescent lamp can help you, which will provide the necessary light and warmth to your mini-vegetable garden.

Any plant planted with love will not be slow to please the eye of its owner with its fruits!

Last winter I tried to grow greens on the window, the parsley sprouted and curled very well, but the dill looked like strings, although the soil was nutritious and there was plenty of light (south side). I still can’t understand what my mistake was, maybe the seeds had a so-called genetic memory and were waiting for spring to come.
