How to grow green onions at home in winter

In winter, our body especially needs vitamins, which are found in fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs. It goes without saying that vegetables and fruits do not grow in winter, but green onions can be grown at home. Despite the fact that many housewives wonder how to grow green onions at home, it is quite simple to do.

By mid-winter, onions stored at home begin to sprout on their own. If you do not notice this process in time, the bulb will begin to rot, and then ruin other good bulbs. From such sprouted bulbs you can get a good harvest of fresh green onions.

There are several simple ways to grow green onions on your windowsill at home in winter. Two of them are presented below.

The first way to grow green onions

Wrap a plastic bottle with a thin layer of cotton wool. String small onions on a strong thread, like beads, and then wrap them around the bottle, leaving no gaps. Secure one end of the thread to the bottom of the bottle, and the other to the neck. The roots of the bulbs should touch the cotton layer. The bottle of onions should be soaked in warm water for a couple of hours and then placed in a small bowl of water. Water must be added daily.

The second way to grow green onions

Place an empty plastic bottle horizontally and cut holes to fit the size of the bulbs to be planted. Fill the bottle with water and place the onions in the holes. It is recommended to grow green onions in south-east, south-west or south windows.Instead of a plastic bottle, you can use plastic egg containers with ready-made cells for onions.
