Rosarium yutersen

In the modern world, roses include a huge number of plants from the genus Rosehip, which are found in the wild and cultivated by humans. Breeding work on wild rose hips began so long ago that several dozen varieties roses decorated gardens already in the 5th century BC. The scientist and botanist of Ancient Greece Theophrastus not only described wild and varietal roses, but also gave reasonable recommendations for their cultivation.

In modern history, starting from the 18th century, several dozen varieties and hybrids of this plant appear annually. Some of them remain popular for tens or even hundreds of years. Rosa rosarium yutersen is no exception; it has been popular for almost half a century.

Rosarium yutersen variety description

In 1977, the leading German breeder W. Cordes introduced the climbing rose Rosarium Uetersen. The variety was the result of the work of several generations of the Cordes family. The tall, up to 3 m climbing rose Rosarium Jutersen belongs to the group of climbers. Large flowers, divided into four segments, similar to old double ones roses. The petals are pink, slightly wavy. There are more than 100 of them in one flower. The flowers are single or collected in racemes of 5-6 pieces.

As they open, the petals acquire a silvery tint.Adult flowers open strongly, becoming like flat rosettes with a diameter of up to 10 - 12 cm. The petals turn pale and fade in the sun. However, they do not spoil the bush, but emphasize the beauty of the young opening buds. The aroma is delicate, sweetish apple notes are clearly felt in it.

How to plant rosarium yutersen

Selection and preparation of a site

For this rose, a well-lit sunny area, protected from the north wind and drafts, with fertile, moderately light soil is suitable. The height of the humus layer should be at least 30 cm. The groundwater level should not be higher than 150 cm. The best place is the upper part of a small southern or southwestern slope or a warm area protected by a building. Important! For roses, you should not choose low, dark, overly moist places. They will not grow under the canopy of large trees either.

Before digging a planting hole for a rose, the area is cleared of weeds and plant debris and dug up using a shovel. If possible, this should be done either in the fall or 2-3 weeks before planting.

When digging, you can add wood ash at the rate of 0.5 kg per square meter. m. The size of the planting hole depends on the roots of the rose, but most often they dig holes with a depth of 0.7 - 0.8 meters and a diameter of 0.5 - 0.6 m. A layer of drainage is poured onto the bottom; small pebbles are suitable. Part soil mixed with rotted manure and poured into a hole. There should be at least 30 cm left to the top of the pit.

Before planting, the root system is inspected. All damaged roots are cut back to a healthy place. Place the seedling in a clay mash. Place it in a hole so that the grafting site is 10 cm below ground level. All roots are straightened and covered with earth, carefully compacting each layer. After each time, you can install arcs from a greenhouse over the bush, which will not shoots straighten up. If you can’t bend it to the ground, you can lay a low stack of boards near the bush and place the rose on them.
