Craft for the garden

This includes garden sculpture, large, medium and small forms, various arches, supports for plants, swings, lanterns and other additions to landscape design.

Tent, hammock, gazebo

Basic ideas for creativity can be divided into three groups:
During the summer heat, it’s nice to relax not within the walls of a house, but in the open air. To do this, you can quickly and inexpensively build a recreation area with your own hands in a cool part of the garden or near a pond.
A hammock, an invention of South American Indians, is perfect for a short rest. You can secure a homemade hammock either on strong branches of nearby trees or on a frame made of timber or boards. This frame can be moved and installed in any corner of the garden.
The hammock bed can be made of durable tarpaulin or thick mattress. Sew drawstrings along the edges of the panel into which strong ropes or slings are threaded. The size of the panel depends on the desire of the master; it is enough to take 2 - 2.5 meters in length, 1.8 - 2 meters in width.
Light tent can be installed at no extra cost. At the selected location, dig four or six wooden supports 1.8 - 2 m high. Connect them around the perimeter with slats or thin PVC pipes. The roof can be built from a piece of durable, moisture-resistant material, and the side walls can be made from inexpensive organza or tulle. In general, such tents can be decorated with any fabrics and available materials.
When constructing a garden gazebo, you need the same frame as for a tent, and make the walls of the gazebo “alive” from plants for vertical gardening:
  • girl's grapes
  • clematis
  • honeysuckle honeysuckle
  • actinidia
  • climbing roses
From old cots and other furniture you can make mini corners for relaxing in the garden, installing them both on the ground and making hanging swings from them. Old logs and stumps are suitable for creating improvised benches.

Garden sculptures

Craft for the garden

You can show your artistic taste by creating small and large sculptural forms on garden plot.
River pebbles and large boulders can serve as excellent natural materials for such crafts. By selecting them according to size, you can get a family of ladybugs sitting down to rest in a flowering flower bed. You can turn gray stones into bright insects using aerosol cans of black and red paint, and if you take yellow and black colors, you can get a bee or wasp from stones.
A variety of figures can be constructed using wire, cement, and polyurethane foam. Having bent the frame into the shape of a hedgehog or a frog, use a trowel to cover it with a solution of cement and sand, use polyurethane foam to give it the final look, and paint the structure with the same spray paint.
Ideas for images of garden sculptures can be taken from numerous children's cartoons or come up with yourself. While walking through the forest, you can stock up on fancy branches and snags. They can be turned into any fairy-tale or folklore creature, coated with varnish or paint for durability, and decorated with textiles.
For arrangement herbal compositions You can build fancy flower beds and arches with your own hands.

Flowerpots, supports, arches

DIY garden craft

You can build an original flowerpot for planting flowers with your own hands from any available material.
Having an old bathtub for bathing a child, you can make a Green sailboat with scarlet sails. Fill the container with garden soil and dig masts from slats or old pipes into it. Cut the sails from an old tarpaulin or awning and paint them scarlet with spray paint. Use old ropes to secure the sails to the masts. You can plant inside such a flowerpot low phlox, nasturtiums, marigolds, petunias.
You can build a mosaic flowerpot from any old box and remnants of tiles. Based on the color scheme of the existing tiles, come up with an ornament or plot. Break large pieces into smaller pieces with a hammer. Use cement or gypsum to make a mixture for laying pieces of tile. Lay out a mosaic on each side of the drawer, selecting pieces of tile by color and size, and rub the seams with the remaining mixture. Inside such a box you can install any nondescript pot, with petunia, hydrangea, begonia and any flowers.
Even the walls of an outdoor garden toilet can be decorated with tile mosaics.
When constructing arches or supports for vertical gardening, you can use everything you have at hand: wooden slats, remnants of PVC pipes.
Ideas and materials for DIY crafts at your summer cottage can be found in the most unexpected places; all that remains is to put them into practice.

Oh, we also have all sorts of ideas in our garden: piglets made from eggplants, a hanging homemade swing, small fences made from bottles. Sometimes the decorator in me wakes up and I start to come up with something.
