Corn: growing and caring for it in a summer cottage

The cultivated plant corn is not difficult to grow, but to harvest a high yield you need to know certain nuances. So, you need to harvest the crop when dried hairs appear on the cobs. In this case, the grains should become soft, and when pressed, milky juice should be released from them. Corn ripens in the 8th week after the start of flowering.
Corn cultivation
Before you carry out planting corn, study its growing technology. So, it is sown at the end of April or at the beginning of May (depending on the climatic region). Before this, holes are prepared into which 3-4 seeds are sown. The depth of one hole is about 6 cm, and the distance between adjacent rows and holes is 50 cm. After the first shoots appear, 2 plants are usually left in each nest. After this, all that remains is to weed and hill up the seedlings.
Predecessors of corn:
- winter crops
- cereals
- fodder and sugar beets
- potato
- buckwheat
In general, corn can grow as a monoculture, so many summer residents do not pay attention to their predecessors. It is much more important to comply with other conditions.
Rules for growing corn:
- corn loves exclusively sunny places
- grows well in medium loamy or light soils that are well drained, loose, rich in minerals and organic matter
- Corn needs to be fed with nitrogen, potassium, magnesium, calcium and phosphorus
As for the amount of mineral fertilizers, it depends on the planned harvest, soil type and predecessor. As you can see, growing corn is not very difficult, even for a beginner.
