Sowing tomatoes

Almost every beginning gardener wonders when exactly to start sowing tomatoes. Many people have been trying for years to find the ideal date, but this is not always possible even within 2-3 years, since this process may seem trivial only at first glance. The date of sowing determines what kind of harvest you will get and whether you will get it at all.

Some people start sowing in January, but in fact, this is not the best option, since the month is not particularly sunny and, in general, this is a little early, since seedlings of even the latest variety are grown on average for no more than 60 days. And even more so, if you do not have the means to provide artificial lighting and insulation, then this is an even worse option.

Sowing tomato seedlings in February is also not particularly effective, since the plant has time to grow significantly and get sick before you plant it in open ground.

This month you can only sow early varieties of tomatoes, and then only under conditions of proper temperature and good lighting.

March is considered the month in which, in fact, you should start sowing tomatoes. As a rule, the most optimal period is considered to be from March 15 to early April. Tomatoes that were sown during this period are distinguished by their stability, strength and maximum fertility.

It is recommended to grow tomato seedlings indoors for no more than 60 days, but only during this period the plant, as a rule, reaches impressive sizes and it becomes not entirely comfortable to keep it on the windowsill, which is why the most optimal period is 45-50 days .

I always planted tomato seedlings at the end of February, beginning of March. Were you pleased with the harvest? Perhaps not entirely. Now we already have seedlings, but next year we need to try sowing in mid-March.
