Corn is an annual, tall plant. Its fruit is kidney-shaped or round in shape, the grain is yellow or milky in color. Variety - sweet corn, used in cooking. She loves warmth, fertile and moist soil, but is afraid of the wind. The soil for sowing is prepared in the fall by digging out the roots of weeds and loosening the soil. In the spring, when the ground warms up well, corn seeds are sown to a depth of five centimeters. After germination, the sprouts are thinned out. In cold areas, corn is grown using seedlings. During the period of plant growth, the soil should be subjected to regular loosening, thinning and fertilizing.
All varieties of corn are harvested when the cobs reach the stage of milky ripeness. When harvested later, the grain hardens and becomes wrinkled.
