And when growing berries from seeds, there are some difficulties that only experienced gardeners can cope with. So, it's not worth the risk.

When choosing seedlings, preference should be given to remontant varieties that bear fruit in the first year. You can purchase several varieties at once and plant them separately. The thing is that different varieties of strawberries ripen at different times.

Where to grow strawberries?

You can grow strawberries in boxes and pots, but this requires a fairly spacious room. And if there is no such room, then the berries will quite easily take root in ordinary plastic bags. With this type of growing, you don’t need a lot of space for your hobby. And purchasing bags will not be difficult. Although, it must be said that ordinary bags from stores are somewhat thin for strawberries. And therefore you can make such bags yourself.

To do this, you need to buy a thick film for a greenhouse in the store, cut it into the required rectangles, then build something like cylinders from the rectangles, solder these cylinders on the sides and bottom. All! Bags for productive bushes are ready!

These containers are placed on the floor or hung on supports. You can put or hang 2-3 of these bags per square meter. After the bags are filled with special growing soil, cuts are made for seedlings approximately 20-25 cm apart in a checkerboard pattern.

If you chose the second option and decided to take soil for strawberries from your garden beds, then you need to be careful to ensure that tomatoes, strawberries, potatoes or raspberries do not previously grow on this soil. Otherwise, there is a risk that young strawberries may become infected with diseases typical of the above plants.

It’s better to let it be land that has rested for three years, and there will be much less risk of disease. Better yet, take turf soil, which contains enough organic matter, add sand, sawdust and humus to it. Everything is taken in approximately equal proportions.

But mineral fertilizers can be applied as written on the packaging in which the fertilizer is sold directly. Well-known superphosphate can be used as such a fertilizer.
