Planting nigella onions. How to grow onions from nigella in a year

Planting nigella onions

The main emphasis in ensuring that planting nigella onions can produce a good harvest is on the quality of the seeds (it is advisable to use 1-2 year old ones). Excellent results can be achieved from seeds of the varieties Kabo, Strigunovsky, Carmen, Volsky, Chernyakovsky.

To grow good onions in a year, planting nigella onions should be done from early to mid-April; it is better to choose a day favorable according to the lunar calendar (for onions or for root crops).

It is best to allocate a place for nigella onions next to the carrot beds, but do not plant them where the onions grew last year.

Before sowing, onion seeds are soaked in an ash solution (1 teaspoon of ash per liter of water) for about 4 hours, then washed and placed in a damp cloth for germination. After germination, the seeds are dried a little so that they do not stick together.

In the fall, when digging up the soil, you need to add 20-30 grams of superphosphate along with calcium chloride to each meter of planting. Immediately before planting, add another 50-60 grams of nitrophoska or 20 grams of urea and superphosphate with 5-10 grams of calcium sulfate. Can be replaced with 2 cups of wood ash with 20 grams of urea. Fresh manure should not be applied either in the fall or in the spring, since it contributes to the development of diseases not only during onion growth, but also during its storage.

The bed can be made 1 meter wide. Seeds are sown at such a distance that there is 20 cm between rows and 5 cm between plantings. The width of the sowing row will be approximately 85-90 cm.

After leveling the ridge, with the back of the rake you need to form a roller of soil along the edges and compact all sides with a shovel. Such a bed will not lose its shape due to rain.
