Planting peppers in the ground, preparing for planting

Pepper

South America and South Asia are considered the homeland of pepper. In Russia, this crop is cultivated as an annual plant. There are two types of pepper: bitter (hot) and sweet.

Seed preparation

Planting pepper in the ground begins with preparing the seeds, or more precisely, planting pepper seedlings. Initially, pepper seeds are sorted: incomplete, broken seeds are removed. Then they are placed in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate and subjected to hardening. Seeds are placed on a plate, covered with gauze and periodically moistened with water. For 6 days, the seeds should be kept at a temperature of + 20 during the day and + 3 degrees at night (placed in the refrigerator). After this period, the seeds are placed in a solution prepared from wood ash diluted in a liter of water for 5 hours.

Preparing the soil and planting seeds

The seeds are dried and sown in a box with prepared soil. Planting peppers in the ground should be carried out in accordance with the planting dates according to the lunar calendar of the gardener and gardener.

You can prepare the soil for seedlings yourself: two parts earth, one part peat and one part sand. Fertilizer is added to the soil and mixed thoroughly.

Fertilizer is added according to the following calculation: for ten liters of soil - 50 grams of Kemira-universal. Peppers are planted in seed soil in grooves to a depth of 1 cm, and the top is covered with plastic film. The distance between rows is 5 cm, and between seeds 2 cm.

Planting peppers in the ground

It is recommended to plant pepper seedlings in a greenhouse or tunnel shelter made from arcs, fastenings and a special non-woven covering material.

Before planting the crop, beds filled with humus are prepared. One plant is placed in each hole. After planting, the peppers must be covered with film if they are planted in open ground, leaving only the ventilated ends of the tunnel.

Comments

If the seedlings are weak, then I plant not one, but two (sometimes even three) bushes per hole in the ground.

We always plant two sprouts. We make a ditch, fill it well with water and plant it. In the rows, the pepper should be thicker, and the distance between the rows should be slightly greater. The plant loves moisture, but in strong sun it can get sick.
