Growing and caring for eggplants: work for the patient

Eggplant is a very heat-loving and light-demanding plant. Depending on climatic conditions, it can be grown both in open ground and in greenhouses. It is better to plant eggplant seedlings in pots. The seeds germinate in 10 - 15 days at a temperature of 22 - 26 degrees, then it can be reduced slightly.
Eggplant does not tolerate transplantation well, so it must be transplanted very carefully to a new place. In order for the plant to better adapt to new conditions, it should be shaded and watered with rain daily for 2 - 3 days.
Growing and caring for eggplants does not require special knowledge, but the gardener should follow some rules:
- .Proper formation of the plant: after the formation of eggplant fruits, the side shoots should be removed. To obtain an earlier harvest, you need to leave no more than three to four fruits on the plant.
- Eggplant leaves are a favorite delicacy of the Colorado potato beetle, so you need to use remedies against this pest.
- Both a lack and an abundance of moisture can harm eggplant fruits. In dry weather, watering is necessary, otherwise the taste will deteriorate and bitterness will be strongly felt.
- Eggplants prefer to grow in places where cabbage and root vegetables were previously located. Before planting, the site is approved with mullein and bird droppings.
Growing and caring for eggplants will bring you real pleasure when, after six months of work, the plant will delight you with tasty, large and juicy fruits.

My parents grew eggplants in the ground at their dacha. One year my mother decided to plant them in a greenhouse in order to increase the yield, but that was not the case - they bloomed and grew profusely, but did not set fruit. At the end of July, the huge bushes were transplanted into the ground - the eggplants began to bear fruit. Parents no longer experiment with eggplants.
We bought the dacha in the fall, so we are complete ignoramuses when it comes to gardening! Can you tell me when to plant seedlings? Am I too late yet?
