How to plant eggplants

Eggplant or blue is considered a favorite vegetable of Southerners. They do everything they can with them - they bake them, stew them with other vegetables or meat, prepare caviar, ferment them, salt them, pack them for the winter... You can prepare eggplants in different ways, but first you need to grow them, and this is not an easy task.

In order to get a good harvest of blue ones in the summer, you need to know how to plant eggplants, because... A lot depends on this - germination, productivity, and the general condition of the bush. Eggplants are almost always first grown as seedlings, and then planted in the soil. To do this, eggplant seeds are germinated on wet gauze for 1-2 days, and then planted in a prepared box with soil or in separate cups with soil. When the bushes get stronger and the ground warms up enough, you can begin preparing the soil.

It is important to choose the right place to plant eggplants. It should be sunny, and the soil should be well fertilized, light and free-flowing. To do this, it is mixed with peat, humus, sawdust and other fertilizers. The area under the eggplants should be carefully dug up so that the soil there becomes airy.

In the prepared area, make holes (at a distance of about 35-40 cm from each other) and plant an eggplant bush in each. The bush must be buried down to the first pair of true leaves. You can also put up pegs so that you can tie up the plant later if necessary. Eggplant bushes are very delicate, the leaves break off easily, so planting seedlings in the ground requires special delicacy.

After planting, the bushes may wilt a little, but you should not flood them with water; this painful condition occurs due to adaptation and strengthening of the root system.

I grow eggplants and peppers every year. This year I have already planted and harvested eggplants. It is very important to create a temperature of 25-26 degrees when germinating seeds. I heat the trays with the planted seeds from below with a heat source, then they germinate well. I hang fluorescent lamps on top. Only this year the true leaves of peppers and eggplants are sprouting yellow. What are they missing? Thank you.
