Caring for garlic in spring

Garlic is the most common garden plant that can be found in a summer cottage. Without it, it is practically impossible to prepare many dishes. Garlic is a medicinal product that can fight many microbes in the human body.
Caring for garlic in the spring does not require any special measures. Garlic is a cold-resistant garden plant. It is capable of starting to grow at 0 degrees and even minus temperatures down to -1. The teeth in the bulb are formed at a temperature of + 5 - 10 degrees, and ripen already at 20-25 ° C.
During its growth period, garlic is demanding of moisture; there are three such periods:
1. Water spring and wintering garlic about two weeks after planting.
2. During the period of growth of wintering garlic (watering for 2-3 weeks)
3. During the formation of cloves and arrows in some varieties.
Caring for garlic in the spring begins with feeding the plant before the ground thaws. To do this, you can use urea 7-10 g or ammonium nitrate 10-15 g per 1 square meter. The same procedure is repeated in the second half of May, when the first teeth begin to form. During this period, the dosage of plant nutrition increases.
During the growth of garlic, weed the beds to remove weeds and water them as the soil dries. If you don’t have time to go to the dacha often, you can water the garlic less often if the soil around it is loosened and sprinkled with sawdust.
Before harvesting, about 2-3 weeks, it is recommended to stop watering the garlic.
In order for garlic to grow large, it is necessary to break out the plant in the summer at a height of 12-15 cm from the topmost leaf.
Comments
The main thing is to weed the garlic beds from time to time to remove any weeds that have appeared, then everything will be great, this is very important, otherwise the “not good” ones will take away all the beneficial substances from the garlic.
We always plant garlic before winter and in early spring the garden is very humid. We fertilize the garlic only with compost. It always grows large and tasty. The top has never been broken off in the summer, we'll try it this year.
