Growing Chinese cabbage

Chinese cabbage contains a huge variety of various minerals and vitamins and has various beneficial properties. In terms of the content of biologically active components, it is even superior to white cabbage; moreover, the content of vitamin C in Beijing cabbage is 2 times higher than that of white cabbage.
Even for a novice housewife, it will not be particularly difficult to grow this “storehouse of vitamins.” The most successful time for sowing is in the last ten days of July, due to the fact that it forms heads of cabbage especially in short-day conditions (late autumn or early spring).
Growing Chinese cabbage, in order to obtain an earlier harvest, is carried out under film cover using seedlings. It is necessary to take into account the fact that the seedlings should only be potted.
Another option for harvesting Chinese cabbage is to grow it in open ground. But, this method is slightly inferior in advantages to the previous one (it can be damaged by the cruciferous flea beetle and loses some of its nutritional properties). For proper sowing, the distance between rows should be approximately 40-50 cm, between nests in a row 25-30 cm. Seeds are planted in the soil to a depth of 1-3 cm. The emergence of seedlings occurs 6 days after planting. For intensive growth, cabbage must be regularly watered and fed.
