Cardinal is one of the most delicious varieties of strawberries

This variety of strawberry, like the cardinal, was bred relatively recently by breeders from America. This variety is highly revered and in demand; many summer residents and gardeners give their preference to the cardinal. Large (up to 80 grams), sugary, dense berries appeal to everyone's taste. The variety has the property of excellent storage and high transportability. Strawberries of this variety have a very beautiful bright red color of the berries, which is impossible not to notice.

Also, in the fall, the cardinal tends to produce a second stage of yield on young rosettes, and it is surprising that the “autumn” berries are larger than their predecessors and their size is absolutely independent of the rooting of the rosette.

The shape of the berry is distinguished by its originality - spindle-shaped with a high neck and the absence of seeds on it. When the berry is at the ripening stage, the sepals fit it quite tightly in order to protect the still unripe delicacy, and when the berry is finally ripe, the sepals bend back and give free access.

The bushes of the plant are quite large, in comparison with other varieties, they have dark green sparse leaves reaching a height of 40-45 cm.

Cardinal is considered to be an extremely painless variety: the fruits have, so to speak, strong immunity to gray rot, and the foliage is absolutely not afraid of ailments. Leading to spotting. But the Achilles heel of this delicious berry is powdery mildew.

The rooting of cardinal rosettes takes slightly longer than that of its “brother” varieties, and those that have already produced a harvest, unfortunately, are no longer suitable for subsequent planting.
