The Dyuzhina young grape variety was bred in 2007 by breeder A.I. Kitaychenko. Kitaychenko himself claims that this is his best hybrid form of grapes.

Description of the variety and photo

Purpose of table grapes. It is not early ripening, it ripens in 115-125 days, starting in mid-August.

The flowers are female, but pollinated well. The bush is vigorous, high-yielding: on strong vines the yield can reach up to 100 kg.

There are two or three clusters on all shoots, so that the berries form normally and ripen, it is necessary to normalize the harvest. Sugar content 17.5%.

Increased frost resistance, can withstand up to -23°C without shelter.

• The berries are large, round or oval in shape, weighing on average 15-20 grams.
• The cluster is large, of medium density, about 30 cm long, but individual clusters can be larger, weighing from 500 to 1500 g
• The color is rich, market, crimson with a transition to red.Under the scorching sun, the color can change to dark burgundy with blue
• The taste is rich, harmonious, memorable with a light honey-floral aftertaste. The pulp is juicy, crispy, with a bone. The skin is thick but easy to eat

Disadvantages of the variety and advantages

The variety does not require special care, but it cannot be said that it is unpretentious. However, there is no need to say that grapes do not require care, unless we are talking about wild ones.

However, the Dozen variety does not have any difficulties in care, compared to other types.

Advantages:

• the color of the berries stands out clearly with its deep saturation;
• the taste of the berries is harmonious, if anyone has tried it, they will not confuse it with anything else;
• the bushes are vigorous, on the stepsons you can harvest the second wave of the harvest by mid-September;
• frost resistance, the vine ripens well, cuttings take root easily;
• The berries do not crack due to autumn rains and are not damaged by wasps.

Where to buy grape seedlings Dozen, how to plant

You can buy seedlings in an online store, on private websites of winegrowers, and you probably have the opportunity to contact the breeder Kitaychenko himself.

Planting of grapes is carried out in spring or autumn. The most reliable way in the fall is to dig a hole the size of a cubic meter. You need to take two buckets of humus, some wood ash, about half a bucket, and 200 grams. superphosphate.

First, fill the bottom of the hole with the top layer of soil that was removed from the first bayonet of the shovel, then add soil, humus and superphosphate in layers, carefully shoveling each layer. Plant seedlings in spring.

The optimal distance between rows is 3 meters, between bushes in a row is 3 meters, between rows is 2 meters.

The vines have a very large root system, and the larger the feeding area, the better.

Remember about the groundwater level, if it is close to the surface (at a level of 40-80 cm), then the planting hole will need to be “raised”, that is, after planting the seedling should be on a slight elevation.

Rules of care

For good fruiting, grapes need proper care, which includes:

• correct planting: it is important to provide the plants with sufficient nutrition area and not to thicken the plantings; choose a southern sunny place, without drafts;
• bush formation, pruning and trimming;
• watering;
• fertilization;
• loosening the soil in the first year;
• protection against infections and pests.

Any grape needs a lot of attention, otherwise it will become overgrown or even die from some disease.

What diseases is the variety susceptible to, effective preventive measures

The best prevention is proper planting, timely pruning and all the necessary work. A healthy, strong plant will protect itself from pests.

However, preventative treatments are still necessary:

• the first is carried out in the spring, when the air temperature warms up to 4-6 degrees, the bushes are sprayed with a 1-3 percent solution of iron sulfate;
• from fungal diseases, after opening the eyes;
• if necessary, you can re-treat 1-2 weeks before flowering.
• the next one, for fungal diseases, is carried out in the summer, after the period of flowering and berry setting;
• in the fall, before sheltering, the vines, as well as the soil next to the plants, are sprayed with fungicides.

Dozen has good resistance to major diseases - mildew, oidium, gray rot - at the level of three points. The berries are practically not damaged by wasps.
