Growing cauliflower in the middle zone

Cauliflower is superior to other types of cabbage in terms of protein and ascorbic acid content; it is also rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, PP, H, K, sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorus and starch. The homeland of this valuable food product is the Mediterranean, and for a long time it was believed that growing cauliflower in the middle zone was impossible. Currently, early ripening varieties and hybrids have been developed that can be successfully cultivated even in Siberia, for example, Skorospelka, Gribovskaya rannyaya 1355, Otechestvennaya, Moskvichka and others.

Cauliflower can be planted using both seedlings and non-seedlings. To obtain a harvest in the early stages (early July), seedlings 45-55 days old should be planted in the ground immediately after the thermometer stops falling below zero at night. At the end of April or beginning of May, seeds can be sown in the ground under film, and at the end of May or beginning of June - without film. This type of cabbage requires more fertile soil than the others. It requires not only organic fertilizers (slurry, humus, compost), but also mineral ones (nitrophoska, urea, superphosphate, potassium chloride). During the entire growing season, the plant needs to be fed 3-4 times.

Growing cauliflower will be successful only if there is good lighting and daily abundant watering. In the summer heat, at temperatures above 25 degrees, this plant also needs to be irrigated.Cauliflower heads consist of stem shoots tightly closed together. To avoid them turning yellow, changing their structure and taste, they should be shaded, for example, by covering them with a broken leaf.

For the seedling method of cultivation, transplanting machines are needed.
