Night beauty is typically a perennial plant with a straight stem. The shoots are quite brittle and branch well. The leaves are elongated, green, with solid edges, smooth, and sit on short petioles.
Tap roots form tubers, thanks to which the plant renews its growth in the spring.
The fragrant flowers deserve special attention; their peculiarity of opening in the evening and closing at dawn is the basis for the name.
Hard seeds appear in place of the flower.On summer evenings, the pleasant smell from a blooming flowerbed indicates that the night beauty has opened her flowers.
This happens only in the dark, because the main pollinators for mirabilis are nocturnal moths - hawk moths. The color of the flowers can be either uniform: white, red, yellow, or variegated.

Night beauty is disease resistant and pests and does not require special protective measures, this makes it indispensable when it is necessary to landscape not only the territory of a country house, but also when landscaping populated areas.
With the onset of the first frost, it is better to dig up the night beauty tubers from the soil and store them underground in the same conditions as dahlia tubers. In milder climates, the tubers can be left in the ground with mulch on top.
