Cherry pests

One of the tasty and healthy fruits is cherries. There are quite a few varieties, but all of them are susceptible to diseases, as well as damage from various pests, which must be constantly combated.
Cherry pests affect not only leaves, shoots, root systems, but also fruits.
One of the most common pests is black cherry aphid, which curls the leaves plants, as well as shortens the tips of young shoots. Usually the black shiny aphid is located on the underside of the leaf. To combat this pest, a method of spraying with special preparations is used, which should be carried out at the end of February, destroying aphid eggs.
The most unpleasant pest is cherry fly, the larvae of which are located directly in the pulp of the fresh fruit, destroying it from the inside. The appearance of this pest on cherries is associated with the nearby grass plantings in which it lives.
Quite rarely it affects cherries slimy sawfly, which eats leaves. The centimeter-long black slimy larvae destroy only the top layer of leaves, leaving behind the bottom layer as well as the leaf veins. This pest can be controlled by spraying with special products.
Another pest is cherry elephant, manifested in the form of small holes on the surface of the fruit. These micro-holes are made by the female for the purpose of laying eggs inside the fetus. The larvae that mature from the eggs eat away the inside of the cherry pit. By the time of harvest, a beetle emerges from the larva and leaves the fruit. Therefore, if signs of damage by this pest appear, the fruits must be removed prematurely and destroyed.
All of the above, as well as many other cherry pests, are dangerous, therefore it is necessary to carry out annually preventive spraying.
