Planting tulips in spring

The best way propagation of bulbous plants is an autumn planting. During the wintering period in the cold ground under snowdrifts, they manage to develop a strong root system. This in turn favors successful flowering. But what to do if you didn’t have time to plant it in the fall (forgot, didn’t have time, or for some other compelling reason)? Is it possible to plant tulips in spring?
Experts say it’s possible. But you can hardly expect flowers from them. Either there will be none at all, or very little. Yes, and you need to know how to store the bulbs so that they do not start to sprout at home with heating. In this case, many keep them in the refrigerator. If it is possible to bury the bulbs in winter, during the cold season, but without frost (otherwise you won’t be able to reach the ground) and cover them with snow, then flowering is still possible. It is important that the plant had at least five weeks of wintering.
You can also plant them in boxes ahead of time and take them outside (while it’s cold), and in the spring plant them together with these boxes (or other containers that you will use). This will help preserve the still weak rhizome.
One more tip for the occasion. When the tulips have already faded and the greenery is also withered, It’s better to dig them up, dry them and put them in a dark place before autumn. If this is not done, the culture degenerates. There are fewer flowers, they become smaller.
The result of our topic is this: of course it is possible to plant tulips in the spring, but this will only intermediate stage and they will bloom normally only in a year. Be patient next time too do everything as expected. Then the plant will answer you with its love, blooming with bright colors in the garden or vegetable garden.
