Tigridia in the photo

Tigridia in the photo has an unusual and bright color. The flower received its original name precisely because of the flower throat, which has a variegated pattern reminiscent of a tiger's color.

There is about twenty species tigridium, each of which is extraordinarily beautiful in its own way. This flower with an exotic color belongs to bulbous plants. It was brought to our country from Central and South America.

Tigridia leaves are sword-shaped and light green in color. Beautiful flowering of tigridia can be observed in July-August. The peculiarity of the flowering of this plant is that Each flower can only bloom for one day, and each new flower takes about five to six days to appear.

Suitable only for growing in a summer cottage Tigridia peacock, the height of which can reach 50 centimeters. It is best to plant tigridia in a sunny place, preferably protected from the wind. The soil for the flower must be non-acidic, and also well drained.

Tigridia cannot tolerate winter conditions, so after the flower stops blooming, i.e. closer to autumn, the bulbs need to be dug up and dried thoroughly within one month.It is recommended to store the bulbs in dry peat or sand in cool conditions.
