Sea buckthorn - a storehouse of health

sea buckthorn

I consider sea buckthorn to be a unique plant. Recently, many summer residents have begun to grow it. With proper planting and care, sea buckthorn produces a good harvest. Moreover, it is a storehouse of vitamins and nutrients. Sea buckthorn is also a medicinal plant. It is used in folk medicine to treat many diseases. And sea buckthorn oil is actually a miraculous thing!

Sea buckthorn is used very closely in cosmetology. Creams based on it have a rejuvenating, moisturizing and nourishing effect. Face masks and hand creams based on it are also popular.

What needs to be done to have a beautiful sea buckthorn on your site?

To do this you need to purchase seedlings. You can buy them at the market, but at the same time you risk taking seedlings of the wrong breed that you wanted, in the worst case, some wild ones! That’s why, when I decided to plant sea buckthorn, I asked for seedlings from people I knew who had been growing it successfully for a long time.

Important! Sea buckthorn is a dioecious tree. Some bushes are female and bear fruit. Others are male - they pollinate the branches of female plants.

In total I had four seedlings - one male, three female.

Sea buckthorn is undemanding to soil. The main thing is that they are not heavy. Ideally, loose and damp soil. Seedlings should be planted at a distance of two meters. Since the bushes grow, and the plant is very light-loving.

It is important to plant sea buckthorn where you will not do any work with the soil. It has a weak root system and this can damage it.

The bushes began to bear fruit only in the fourth year. The height of the bushes reaches three to four meters.

It begins to bloom around May.

The fruits are bright yellow berries with a seed and a citrus scent. They usually ripen at the end of August.

The harvest from one bush is 5-8 kilograms.

Sea buckthorn is the most useful shrub in the garden. A minimum of time spent on cultivation and care - and here are vitamins in their purest form!

Any product made from sea buckthorn (jam, syrup, marmalade, marmalade, juice) retains its healing properties. But I never boil it, but beat it with a blender and strain it from the seeds, add sugar in a 1:1 ratio, pour it into jars, so it is stored in the basement for at least a year.

I really respect sea buckthorn. And I want to plant a couple of bushes for myself. A neighbor said not long ago that she has sea buckthorn without thorns. We bought it specifically from a nursery. It's generally very comfortable and doesn't prick.

We had sea buckthorn and to be honest. We have suffered with it, and it is growing like a weed. It’s easier to buy a kilo or two of berries once a year than to suffer at the dacha with sea buckthorn. Moreover, in addition to the female tree, a male tree is also needed. And all these plantings are growing exponentially at the speed of light :-)
