In general, when choosing varieties for your garden, try to purchase more modern ones that are resistant to most diseases and pests.

The most common pest of black currant is kidney mite. Its females invade the currant buds, which become swollen as a result. Due to the danger of infection by this mite, spraying of currants begins in early spring, even before the buds open. What to spray with? Helps against most diseases and pests 2% solution of Nitrofen or 0.2% solution of karbofos. Sometimes they use Bordeaux mixture or special preparations "Apollo", "Mavrik", "Neoron" and others. Spraying is effective only at temperatures not lower than 20 degrees, otherwise they are wrapped in polyethylene after spraying. If you miss the moment and allow the infected buds to open, mites will emerge from them and occupy more and more new buds.

The next time the currants are sprayed after 10 days, and then before flowering. After flowering, you can spray with 1% colloidal sulfur or karbofos solution. Products such as Intavir, Decis, Fury have no effect on mites and currant diseases; they are intended to repel gnawing insects. Some summer residents do not use pesticides at all and prefer to spray their plants against all diseases and pests infusion of wormwood, tobacco, garlic, onion peels, etc.
