Caring for garden strawberries is easy!

If you ask the question: “Do you like strawberries?” They will answer you: “Yes, I just adore her!” The only person who would probably refuse such a tasty and healthy berry is someone who has an allergy or some other disease. But the rest will happily enjoy garden strawberries! But first you need to grow this berry, and you need to know what kind of care garden strawberries need!

How to care for garden strawberries:

  • Caring for garden strawberries begins in early spring. When the soil dries, you need to remove old leaves, tendrils and other debris. This work is best done with a rake or a hard broom.
  • This plant debris must be collected and destroyed, as it may contain overwintering pests.
  • Afterwards, you need to fertilize with ammonium nitrate. When carrying out this procedure, you need to beware of excessive application of nitrogen fertilizers, this can lead to damage to the crop.
  • After the previously completed work, the next step is clearing the strawberry plantation of weeds, regularly loosening the rows, watering, removing mustaches and protecting against pests and diseases.
  • Before strawberries bloom, to avoid contamination of the berries, add fresh sawdust under the bushes in a layer of 3-5 cm.
  • During the summer, you need to carefully remove the mustache; neglecting this procedure can lead to a decrease in yield.
  • After picking the berries, it is necessary to continue caring for the plantation.Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied at half the dose. The soil should be dug up between the rows and loosened even more finely around the plants.

That's why sawdust is needed... We sprinkled it on an intuitive level. Now at least I’ll know that my intuition was correct)

We have strawberries growing in our garden. Every spring, and in the summer too, my husband and I always clean it of old leaves, weeds, etc., but we never apply any fertilizers. This does not negatively affect the harvest, and we get the opportunity to enjoy berries grown without chemicals.
