How to grow asparagus yourself

Asparagus has been known for a long time, but recently it has become extremely popular. Asparagus is valued both for its taste and for containing a significant amount of nutrients. Eating asparagus can increase overall tone and stabilize all body processes. In addition, asparagus dishes help strengthen the nervous system and improve digestion and normalize sugar levels. But asparagus bought at the market or in a supermarket is not always as healthy as growing it yourself. Knowing how to grow asparagus in the countryside, you can achieve excellent taste and healing qualities.
Asparagus growing technology
Firstly, before growing asparagus on your site, you need to carefully select a place for planting it. Asparagus prefers loose soil with a significant layer of compost. Soil preparation must begin in the fall. At the beginning of autumn, you need to dig up the area intended for asparagus, adding phosphorus fertilizers. In the spring, the soil is dug up one more time, saturating it with nitrogen fertilizers. Such careful preparation is necessary because asparagus is grown continuously in one place for several years. During the entire period of asparagus cultivation (from 2 to 15 years), in the fall of each year, absolutely all shoots are completely cut off, and the beds are sprinkled with a new layer of compost or humus.
Since asparagus seeds take a very long time to germinate in open ground, the seedling method is preferable:
• Seeds in warm water and germinate for a week;
• Hatched seeds are planted to a depth of 1.5-2 cm;
• Seedlings are considered ready only after the formation of a healthy and developed root system;
• Ready seedlings are planted in spring in furrows spaced 1 m apart. It is important to additionally loosen the soil at the bottom of the furrow.
• Asparagus is planted at intervals of 40-50 cm, after which it is watered with a watering can with a sprayer.
Comments
I was interested in growing asparagus, but it remained unclear whether it is necessary to obtain seedlings from seeds every year or whether it is a perennial crop if it grows in one place for 2 to 15 years.
