Cherry season is already approaching

Just a little more and the fragrant and incredibly tasty cherry season will begin. This berry is a harbinger of summer; cherries should definitely be in every garden.

Since cherries are one of the trees that begin to bloom and bear fruit first, they need to be planted in a bright place with good air circulation. The soil under the cherry tree should not be swampy or oversaturated with moisture.

The planting hole for cherries is made quite deep, approximately 70 by 70 and 60. The distance from other trees is at least 3 meters. In the planting hole you need to mix a bucket of sand, 1 liter of wood ash, any organic fertilizers, a bucket of peat and the same amount of clay. This mixture will be optimal for normal growth and fruiting of cherries.

After planting, the soil around the tree is thoroughly compacted and covered with compost or dry grass. Sweet cherries like to receive fertilizer in the form of slurry and ash. This should be done before flowering, in May and after harvesting. If the trees are old (more than 10 years), it is advisable to fertilize them three or even four times.

Cherry trees need to be pruned annually: basically, weak, dry branches directed inward are removed. The cutting area must be treated with garden varnish.

Useful properties of cherries
