Planting cucumbers in the ground - step-by-step instructions

Planting cucumbers in the ground

The spring sun is already warming up with might and main and the temperature outside even at night does not fall below 10 degrees, which means the time has come when planting cucumbers in the ground will be most successful.

You need to prepare for this moment in advance and in order not to make a mistake, it is enough to carry out a simple calculation: plant cucumber seedlings 20–25 days after the seeds have sprouted. Usually, on April 15-20, cucumbers are planted in greenhouses (both film and glass), on May 10-15 - under film in open ground, and on June 2-10, cucumber seedlings can be planted without shelter.

Step-by-step instruction

  1. Holes for planting are prepared. Depending on the variety, the distance between the holes for seedlings varies: for bush-type cucumbers, 5–6 plants per 1 m², and for tall cucumbers, 3–4 plants. A little compost or rotted manure is poured into each hole.
  2. The plant along with the substrate is carefully removed from the container for seedlings. If your seedlings are in disposable cups, then the easiest way is to cut off the bottom and remove the plant without damaging the roots.
  3. It is not advisable to deepen the subcotyledon. Place the seedlings in the hole, water well, and sprinkle with dry soil. This way you will avoid the formation of an earthen crust, which interferes with the rooting of seedlings in a new place.
  4. Carefully tie the small plant to the trellis so that it can curl.

It is important to remember that successful planting of cucumbers in the ground is only the beginning of a rather long path to a rich harvest.Cucumbers require regular watering, preferably daily, but not less than once every 3 days. You need to water at the rate of not 1 liter of water per plant, but when the cucumbers grow, then 3 liters.
