Features of onion types

Often these onions form beautiful large inflorescences (Aflatun, giant, Ostrovsky, Vavilov onions). After flowering, some of them produce purple-pink fruits that are very decorative in appearance. After flowering, most of them come into vegetative dormancy.

Less common types of onions are spicy-tasting vegetable plants that improve the digestibility of food, increase appetite, and are also widely used in folk medicine.

Phytoncides contained in the tissues of these plants inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi and other pathogenic microorganisms.

Many of them are useful for hypertension, atherosclerosis, reduce cholesterol, are used in the treatment of rheumatism, scurvy, and also have a diuretic effect.

My family likes the red salad varieties best. We usually grow the Red Baron variety.

One day we were rafting along the river, moored to the shore to rest, and found a huge amount of young wild onions there. They picked themselves an armful. It turned out to be simply wonderful: tender, juicy, especially fragrant. You probably can't grow it in the garden...

There are many types of onions, they differ not only in color and shape, but also in taste, too. There are types of onions that have no bitterness at all and are quite sweet. In addition, different varieties of onions have completely different medicinal properties.
