Onion varieties in the photo

Traditionally, it took at least two years to grow good onions; in the first year, sets were grown from the seeds, and in the second year, onions for food were obtained from the sets. First of all, this scheme is explained by the fact that the old, familiar varieties of onions simply did not have time to produce large, high-quality turnips grown from nigella in one summer.
Nowadays, this problem has been solved; today, onion varieties have appeared, both Dutch and domestic, which make it possible to grow onions from nigella in one year. Looking at the onion varieties in the photo, you can see that they can be both large and small, the usual white color or purple
.
Almost all varieties of onions are resistant to low temperatures, and seed germination from nigella is possible at temperatures just above zero. Depending on the taste and characteristics of the bulb, salad, spicy or semi-sharp onions are distinguished. Spicy varieties include Bessonovsky, Arzamassky, Rostov local onion, Odinovets and others. The most popular semi-sharp onion varieties are Kaba, Krasnodar G-35, Karatalsky. Such onion varieties as Danilovsky 301 and Orange are good for salads.
If a summer resident does not want to wait two years to obtain onions, then you can purchase onion varieties such as Chalcedony, Duetto, Zolotnichok, Early Pink, and Carmen. If you plant them in winter, then the next year you can grow turnips from them.
