Tomato Explosion, description and photo
Explosion tomatoes were developed at the beginning of the twenty-first century in Russia. They are classified as early ripening, ripening begins after the hundredth day from the moment the seeds are planted.
Standard bushes with spreading branches. In order to prevent branches from falling, it is recommended to take care of supports in advance, to which the branches can then be tied.
A notable feature is its versatility. Tomatoes can be grown both in greenhouses and hotbeds, as well as in open soil. The plants are persistent and tolerate open ground conditions well.
Other features of the hybrid include its high resistance not only to temperature fluctuations, but also to most diseases characteristic of tomatoes.
However, this does not mean at all that a tomato cannot suffer from disease or pest attack, albeit less than others, but the Explosion also suffers from them.
We invite you to watch a video about the Explosion tomato and find out the features of this variety:
Characteristics of the variety, height, yield
In addition to resistance to unfavorable environmental conditions and pest attacks, the characteristics of the variety include a number of other features, let’s name the most notable:
- The height of the bush ranges from 45 to 60 cm;
- The fruits are distinguished by their dense structure, rich red color and slightly ribbed shape;
- The weight of one fruit is 120 grams, but sometimes reaches 260 grams;
- The average yield of one bush is 3 kg per season.
- The tomato is considered universal; the fruits are suitable for rolling and salads. Thanks to their dense consistency, they do not lose their shape and do not fall apart when exposed to boiling water.
Tomato variety Explosion, reviews and photos from those who planted
On the Internet you can find many reviews from gardeners who planted the variety. Many note the high level of cold resistance and taste of the Explosion.
So Anton Veremeev notes: Growing tomatoes - my passion. Every year I try to try new varieties, and almost the whole family is interested in this activity. Explosion came across tomatoes by accident and decided to try growing seedlings first. The bushes grew lush, there was no need to tie them up. I was especially surprised by the speed and almost simultaneous ripening of tomatoes. We used it in salads and in potting, we liked the taste, we will continue to plant it.
Tamara Lipetskaya was also pleased: Since we have cold springs, I always look for cold-resistant varieties. A friend recommended the explosion and even shared the seeds. I took a risk, planted it immediately in open ground and did not regret it! Even the sudden cold snap did not destroy the harvest; I found the perfect variety.
The majority of online reviews are positive, with users noting the durability and productivity of the hybrid.
The only thing that can be considered negative is the insufficiently pronounced taste qualities.
Tomato Explosion - features of cultivation and care
In order for the tomato to grow quickly and produce the largest possible harvest, it is important to follow some planting and care rules.
The main points to pay attention to include:
- It is recommended to plant seedlings in mid-March. Before planting directly, the seeds must be soaked in a growth stimulator solution for seven hours.
- You can water only after the first leaves appear. Before this, it is recommended to only spray the soil, this will prevent the seeds from being washed out;
- After the second leaf appears on the sprouts, pick and plant the tomatoes in separate cups;
- Two-month-old seedlings can be planted in open ground (in June) or in a greenhouse (in May). When transplanting, it is important to maintain a distance between individual bushes - at least 40 cm;
- It is necessary to add a little fertilizer to the bottom of the holes;
- After planting, watering is carried out twice a week in the early morning or in the evening after sunset. This will help prevent the formation of burns on the foliage;
- When the ovary forms, it is recommended to increase the frequency of watering so that the fruits gain weight;
- During the season, tomatoes need feeding: during transplantation, a week after planting, during flowering and fruit formation.
When caring for tomatoes, it is equally important to weed the beds in a timely manner. You don’t have to throw away the weeds, but sprinkle them on the soil under the bushes as mulch.
Let's watch the video and find out how to properly plant tomatoes in open ground:
Prevention measures, disease and pest control
Tomatoes of this variety are practically not susceptible to disease attacks. However, despite this, tomatoes can still suffer. In order to protect the crop from destruction, it is worth knowing how to deal with the scourge.
The most common problem is pest attacks. Mainly insects such as the Colorado potato beetle, spider mite, thrips, aphids.
Treatment with insecticides will help get rid of them. It would not be amiss to treat tomatoes for preventive purposes if these pests have appeared in neighboring areas.
With proper care and timely processing, tomatoes will pleasantly surprise you not only with their durability, but also with a harvest that will be enough for the family table and sale.
Where to buy tomato seeds of the Explosion variety
You can purchase seeds online. This is the easiest way, because there are enough sites that offer to purchase seeds. However, it is important to note that this method comes with some risks.
There is always a danger of running into scammers, so you should pay attention to large sites, or use proven ones.
A less risky way is to purchase it at a specialty store. This is a common variety and you may well find it on the counter; in extreme cases, you can order it from the seller, who, in turn, will place an order from a specialized company.
Explosion tomatoes are a variety that is frost-resistant and successfully withstands disease attacks. High yield and relative unpretentiousness have made this hybrid quite popular.
Comments
We have not grown this productive variety yet, but caring for Vryv tomatoes is approximately the same as for other varieties - this is the application of nitrogen fertilizers after planting the seedlings, and when flowers appear, use ammophoska to feed the tomatoes. Approximately once a week, shoot the bushes, leaving one or two stepsons during the first shoot. Water generously twice a week, and spray with phytosporin once every 10 days.
The photographs look tempting, but we didn’t grow this variety either, but I think I saw them from someone, of course I can easily confuse the varieties of these tomatoes. Judging by the description, they are normal in terms of care.
We have already tried this variety of tomatoes. They grow very tasty. We recommended it to our neighbors, they are also happy with everything.
