A beautiful, slender, well-educated empress and mother of four children, Farah did a lot for the women of Iran and its cultural heritage. Despite her busy schedule, the empress also found time for her magnificent garden.
To design it, she chose Georges Delbard, owner of one of the leading rose nurseries in France. The reason for this was the basket of beautiful roses that Delbar presented to Farah in 1974. And then for seven years he supplied plants for the Empress’s garden.
Subsequently, Henri Delbard, the son of Georges, named those same ones in honor of the Empress of Iran in 1992 roses, which she received from his father. The virtues of roses of this variety corresponded to the virtues and greatness of Farah.

How to plant a rose Empress Farah
To plant a hybrid tea rose, you need to choose a place well lit by the sun. It should also be well ventilated, but protected from the cold north wind. In the shade and partial shade, the beauty of flowers and the splendor of flowering are lost.
Roses grow well on any soil, except very heavy and very light. Therefore, loamy, moderately dry soils with a slightly acidic reaction are optimal.
Preparing for landing
Before planting a rose, the selected soil is dug deeply. Under digging for 1 sq. meter contribute:
- humus or compost from 10 to 20 kg
- wood ash 0.2 kg
- lime 0.4 kg
- superphosphate - 2 l. st
Important! It is advisable to prepare the site either in the fall or 3-4 weeks before planting. A planting hole is dug to a depth of 50 - 60 cm. A small mound of the top layer of soil mixed with humus or compost in equal parts is poured onto the bottom.
Landing
In the middle lane hybrid tea Roses are best planted in spring from about mid-April. Before planting, the seedling is inspected. All damaged roots are cut back to a healthy place. The main part of the roots is also slightly shortened. Ground shoots are pruned to 2 - 3 buds. Before planting, the roots of the seedling are sprayed with any root growth stimulator.
If the root system of the rose has been without soil for a long time and has dried out, then it needs to be dipped in clay and manure diluted with water. The seedling is placed in a hole, the roots are straightened and gradually covered with earth. The root collar is slightly buried in the soil. The rose is watered and hilled high. After 2-3 weeks, this soil is raked out, and the tree trunk space is mulched with a 5 cm layer of peat.
Rose care
Considering the unpretentiousness of the variety, caring for it is simple. An important point is watering and fertilizing. In the absence of natural precipitation, the rose must be watered when the top layer of soil dries out. One plant needs at least two buckets of water.
Throughout the entire season, roses need to be fed once every two to three weeks from the second year after planting. It is advisable to alternate mineral fertilizers with organic ones.As soon as the rose is opened in the spring, hilled, and like all hybrid tea roses, Empress Farah needs regular hilling, it’s time for the first feeding.
You can mix rotted manure with soil and simply spread this mixture near the bush. At the stage of bud emergence, the plant is fed with potassium mixtures. All mineral mixtures are added only after abundant watering.
The main pruning occurs in the spring. After wintering, all damaged shoots are cut back to a healthy place. 2-4 buds are left on all strong shoots. In the fall, just before frost, all the leaves are removed from the rose and the flowers are cut. If you do this too early, the bush may produce new buds and shoots, which will weaken it too much. Important! A rose should not be left with leaves in the winter.
All weak, damaged shoots are removed. The rest are cut to about half the length. After this, the rose needs to be hilled high. The land for this is prepared in advance. The hilling height should be at least 0.3 - 0.4 m. The flowers do not need any other shelter. Hilling can be carried out in two stages.
The first - in mid-October, the second - after the cold weather sets below - 10 degrees. Many flower growers have heard the legend that the Empress Farah variety had a retinue of five varieties. However, their names are unknown. It is very difficult to choose the ideal varieties for the imperial retinue, so you can plant several bush roses with white, flat flowers near this variety.
