Common arrowhead

Common arrowhead belong to the perennial herbaceous plants belonging to the family Chastuaceae. Arrowhead grows, in particular, under water or in water, and is also quite capable of adapting to the soil, but this will require some care and systematic moistening of the soil.
Depending on the location and living conditions, arrowhead is classified as three main forms. In shallow water or on the shore, the plant has stele-shaped leaves, which is how the plant got its name. This type of arrowhead usually blooms in July. On the triangular peduncle there are whorls with flowers, usually three. The flowers contain three white petals with a crimson spot, as well as three sepals. Pollination of the plant occurs with the help of insects.
Plants that have adapted at a depth, have yellow-green translucent petals similar to thin silky ribbons. This type of arrowhead never blooms. There are cases when this type of plant develops arrow-shaped floating leaves with a rounded base and long petioles. Leaves of the three types are very rarely combined on one plant.
Arrowhead fruits, As a rule, they form closer to autumn. Thanks to the presence of air, the fruits float very well and are transported over fairly large distances with the help of the wind.
Arrowhead tubers very rich in starch and pleasant to the taste. Arrowhead tubers appear only in late autumn and early spring.Various aquatic animals feed on the shoots of this plant, and various waterfowl feast on the leaves.
