Description of the Radermacher flower

Radermachera is an evergreen shrub that belongs to the Bigoniaceae family. The plant grows well indoors and is characterized by high endurance and unpretentiousness. The leaves of Radermachera are glossy, pinnate and elongated, reaching 5 cm in length. The tips are pointed.

The trunk of the plant is small, but well branched. It can reach a height of one meter. Radermachera does not bloom when grown at home, but in its natural environment forms bell-shaped yellow flowers. Therefore, it is grown by gardeners as an ornamental foliage plant.

Growing technology

Transplant plants are performed if the root system does not fit in the pot. Young plants are replanted every 2-3 years with a complete replacement of the soil. This event should be held in the spring. Before planting, the roots of the seedling need to be cut off by a few millimeters. This will allow for better absorption of moisture and essential nutrients.

First, you need to make small holes in the container and lay drainage on the bottom. As a drainage layer, you can use expanded clay, pebbles, crushed brick, etc. The soil for Radermachera should be slightly acidic or neutral. It should be loose and light, absorb moisture well.

The following composition can be used as a soil mixture: take garden soil, perlite, peat and pieces of coal in equal proportions, one part at a time. Add 1/2 leaf soil to this mixture. You can prepare another version of the soil mixture: take one part each of turf, humus and coarse sand and add 2 parts of humus. It is recommended to disinfect the soil with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. This will prevent the appearance of pests and possible diseases.

Reproduction methods

Radermacher can multiply indoors in several ways: cuttings, layering and seeds. The first method is more common and simpler. The cuttings are cut at the end of spring and placed in a damp peat-sand mixture. Its length should be 8-10 cm. Next, cover with a glass container.

For the cuttings to germinate, you need to create optimal conditions: the room must be at a warm temperature and the room must be ventilated regularly. When roots appear, the cuttings are transplanted into prepared soil. To get a root from layering, you need to make a small cut of 1-2 cm, place it in damp moss and wrap it in film.

After 14-20 days, shoots will appear and you can transplant to a permanent place.
