Lavatera is perennial, what is known about it?

Lavatera perennial belongs to the malvaceae family. Our most common perennial species of lavatera is the Dog rose. This plant is quite tall and branched. Lavatera boasts a wide range of flowers: yellow, purple, white, pink, burgundy, etc. Lavatera pleases with its flowering from June until frost.

Growing and care

Lavatera perennial unpretentious in care, it does not require special knowledge, conditions or agricultural technology. It grows well in different soils, the main thing is that the soil is at least a little loosened for better air permeability. You can add a small amount of sand and humus in equal parts to the garden soil. Lavatera is distinguished by its resistance to drought; do not allow excess moisture during watering. In a fertilized area, lavatera flowers have a brighter color and the stems are powerful.

For planting, it is better to choose sunny or slightly shaded areas. If there is a lot of shadow, this has a bad effect on flowering. Lavatera seeds are planted in April or early May. Shoots appear quite quickly. In autumn, Lavatera self-sows. The seeds ripen 30 - 40 days after the start of flowering. They are easy to recognize; in place of the flower there remains a green box containing seeds. They can be picked and sown in any other place.

Buds that have already bloomed need to be removedb. Otherwise, they not only do not decorate the appearance of the lavatera, but also harm the plant. Rain or dew turns them into a sticky mucous mass, which leaves burns on the lavatera.
Lavatera is used for single or group plantings; very original bouquets are made from flowers.
