Caring for eggplants - gentle care

Eggplants in the garden

Caring for eggplants involves watering, fertilizing, loosening the soil, and forming a bush. This vegetable especially needs light and warmth, and is easily grown in soil with a slightly acidic or neutral reaction. Acidic soils need to be limed every 3-4 years. The delicate root system of eggplants is sensitive to transplantation, so it is recommended to grow seedlings in peat pots without resorting to picking. Caution should also be observed when weeding - damage to the surface root system will affect the harvest. During the period of fruit formation, the plant's need for moisture increases. When watering, avoid getting water on the leaves.

The best varieties of eggplant

  • Vikar - early ripening, high fruit-forming ability, simultaneous yield, pear-shaped, purple, matte fruits;
  • Solaris - early ripening, cold-resistant, good set, fruits are elongated pear-shaped, dark purple, glossy;
  • Snow - early ripening, original, cylindrical white fruits;
  • Frost is mid-early, the fruits are small, oval, white.

By paying attention to caring for eggplants, you can significantly increase the yield of this vegetable.
