How to grow morning glory from seeds

Morning glory is a fairly heat-loving plant, so growing morning glory from seeds using seedlings is preferable to cuttings and layering.

Seeds are planted for seedlings in March, after pre-soaking them for a day in warm water. Those that are not swollen can be pierced with a needle and soaked again.

Plant replanting is painful, so removal from the pots is necessary along with a good lump of soil. Planted in the ground after frost, in June.

You can plant the plant immediately in a permanent place in May, soaking the seeds in hot, up to 50 degrees, water for 2-4 hours before planting.

Morning glory must be constantly watered, while simultaneously feeding it with complex fertilizers. In addition, for good development, the plant needs supports made of wire, fishing line, and mesh.

Morning glory loves warmth, light and abundant watering, so it is recommended to plant it on the leeward sunny side.

Interestingly, morning glory flowers bloom in the early morning and close in the afternoon. And only in cloudy weather do they remain open all day, since the plant is quite sensitive to light and with a lack of light the flowers close.

I live in the north-west of our country. And I’ve been growing morning glory on the balcony for many years. But I never used to grow seedlings - I always planted the seeds immediately in balcony boxes. True, this falls in the second half of May, since it’s cold, and I don’t open the balcony before that time.

Your variety is too light and heat-loving; there are varieties that are more unpretentious.
