If for planting you take onion sets from your own garden, which were stored at a temperature of about 19-22 degrees, no additional heating is required for the planting material. If the sets were purchased in a store, it is recommended to warm the bulbs near heating devices a few days before planting so that the air temperature for them is 35-40 degrees.

You can also use another processing method: immediately before planting, pour the seedlings into a suitable container, fill them with hot water for 20 minutes (water temperature 65-70 degrees), then lower them into cold water for a minute. If you do not do this, the planted onion sets will most likely will go into the arrow.

The heated onions are soaked in the following solution: for 10 liters of water - a tablespoon of nitroammophoska, ammophoska, ROST-1, or any complex fertilizer. The bulbs in a cloth bag are dipped in this solution for about 10 hours, then, without washing, the bag is dipped in a solution of copper sulfate for 8-10 minutes to prevent fungal diseases (stir a teaspoon of sulfate in 10 liters of water). The seedlings treated in this way are rinsed with clean water, after which they begin planting.

This year I grew such onions on the balcony to get green arrows, but I can’t say that they turned out good - they are few and small. I need to write down these tips and try to use them next year. Or should we not hope for a good harvest in the balcony boxes?
