Sparaxis in the photo. Growing Sparaxis

Sparaxis in the photo is a perennial corm plant that naturally lives in South America. Sparaxis in the photo - an extremely beautiful and bright garden plant, which, unfortunately, is more than picky.
The flower feels best in open ground in warm southern regions, and in the North, in cold climates, it can be grown exclusively in greenhouses. The plant does not tolerate the slightest frost very well., therefore, even in relatively warm and mild winters it must be covered with peat, which should lie on the soil until April, and in cold ones it should be completely dug up.
Sparaxis planting is carried out in November: planting material is placed quite deep (at a depth of about eight centimeters), and the corms should be no closer than ten centimeters from each other. When growing sparaxis in the middle zone and northern regions, the depth of planting material should not exceed five centimeters. It is best to place the plant in small groups in sunny locations with well-drained soil. Further care for sparaxis consists of regular watering, destruction of weeds, and preparation of corms for wintering. When the plant fades and its leaves die off (this happens in mid-summer), the plants are dug up, thoroughly cleaned and dried, and then moved for the whole winter to a room with a temperature of 5-8 degrees, preferably in a dry substrate. After flowering Seeds are collected from sparaxis at will, which are planted next year.
