Proper care of potatoes is the key to a good harvest.

Complete potato care includes operations such as hilling, weeding, loosening the soil and regular fertilizing. Additionally, in dry regions, watering may also be required.
Potatoes are a crop that thrives best not only in nutritious, but also in loose, breathable soil. Therefore, the key to normal plant development and, as a result, obtaining a good harvest is regular hilling, which needs to be done several times a season. This operation is best carried out using a hand hoe or chopper soon after watering or rain. Hilling is extremely important for potato varieties with a short tuberization period, as well as for all potatoes during the initial period of its growth (in this case, hilling acts as a measure of protection against frost, to which young plants are very sensitive).
Full-fledged potato care is impossible without fertilizing, which should be carried out three times per season (during the period of active growth of tops, during budding and flowering, respectively). In this case, for the first fertilizer they use a mixture of urea and mullein, diluted in 10 liters of water, for the second - sulfate and wood ash, for the third - superphosphate and nitrophoska, pouring half a liter of fertilizer under each bush. It is equally important to carry out regular weed removal, which can choke out potato shoots during the growing season (then the tops close together very tightly, and due to the shadow formed, the weeds die on their own).

I have been growing potatoes for many years now and I can say that they really require a lot of care. If you watered it well, weeded it and loosened it, then you will get a good harvest.
