How to plant peppers: a few important subtleties

Pepper

It would seem that the answer to the question of how to plant peppers is extremely simple, and literally every gardener who has tried to grow this crop at least once knows it. But in fact, everything is by no means so simple, and planting and further growing such, at first glance, an unpretentious and extremely undemanding crop like bell pepper has many different nuances and subtleties, without which it is impossible to obtain a good harvest.

So how to plant peppers? To begin with, the seeds (by the way, they have their own “shelf life”, so seeds older than five to six years should not be used) need to be germinated. At the very beginning of March, the seed must be wrapped in a damp cloth and left for five to seven days. During this time, sprouts should appear, and when their size reaches half a centimeter, the seedlings need to be moved into the soil. For the normal development of seedlings, a sufficient amount of light is extremely important, so it is best to place the box with it on the south window, cover the container with foil to increase lighting and turn it from time to time so that the sprouts do not bend. The soil should be watered regularly, and after the first leaves appear on the seedlings, it should be fed.

Under no circumstances should bell peppers be planted in open ground during the day: it is best to do this in the early morning or, conversely, late in the evening. Plants should be placed in shallow holes, previously fertilized with ash, humus and phosphorus fertilizer. If flowers have already formed on the plants at the time of planting, they should be removed.

When we plant peppers, we always do it on a non-sunny day, either in the morning or in the evening. My mother has been gardening this way all her life and taught me to do it. And as it grows, we add water infused with ashes, and a very good harvest comes out.
