Tropical and temperate climates are considered favorable places for sheflera to grow. The decorative highlight is the palmate carved foliage, which looks like umbrellas. The stem-like part of the leaves reaches thirty centimeters in length.

Star-leaved appearance - the plant has a straight glossy trunk and slightly curled leaves. It is popularly called “brassaia radiata”.

This type includes the following varieties:

• Nova - a characteristic difference is the lemon tint of the foliage, which has jagged edges; the leaves resemble oak leaves in appearance;
• Green goldew - mustard-colored leaves.

Graceful shefflera - this type is considered the most exotic and unusual. It has a second name: “the most graceful dizygoteca”. The maximum height of the plant is two meters.

The leaves have an attractive green-emerald color, dissected into 13 parts, elongated up to 35 centimeters. The trunk is gray, straight, there is spotting. The difference from other species is the need for special and constant care.

Woody shefflera, also known as Heptapleurum arboricola, is the most common of its genus. In appearance and growth it resembles a small vine. Used as a decorative composition; several seedlings or sprouts can be planted in one pot at once.

There are several simple rules, the observance of which is necessary for the normal functioning of the plant.

Watering:

• This flower prefers settled, warm water.
• Watering should be done moderately, the plant suffers from both flooded and overdried soil.
• If the soil is slightly damp, you should wait a couple of days and only then water the flower, otherwise the roots will rot.
• During dormancy, which lasts from November to February, the cheflera is watered occasionally.

Good drainage will help with proper watering.Several holes should be punched at the bottom of the container or pot, and a layer of expanded clay should be poured under the main soil. This layer and holes remove excess water and protect the root system from rotting and souring.

Spraying from a spray bottle is useful. It is especially effective to refresh the leaves during dormancy, when watering is minimal. This will allow the plant to maintain a presentable and lively appearance.

Planting: plant the plant in a large pot, taking into account that in the future it will reach a height of about two meters.

Since the plant is tropical, it should not be planted in cold weather. When placing a flowerpot with a plant, drafts and proximity to electric heating devices should be avoided.

The ideal place is on a lighted windowsill, preferably on the west side. The south side is not suitable, as abundant ultraviolet radiation will negatively affect the leaves and their appearance.

From March until the beginning of autumn, fertilizing is carried out twice a week, since at this time the flower is actively developing and growing. Products for feeding palm trees or exotic indoor plants are used as fertilizer.

Trimming. The procedure is carried out to form the top and shape of the tree. If you trim the crown correctly, the bush will send out shoots on the sides and the plant will take on a round shape. To create a tree-like shape, the side leaves are cut off and the top is retained. The owner decides which form to choose, taking into account his preferences and the interior of the room.

Bloom

Schefflera blooms only in tropical and favorable conditions.

The inflorescences are large and burgundy-red in color. As the buds bloom more, the color becomes paler, with the burgundy hue remaining only in the center.

Schefflera often does not bloom at home. If this happens, then the flowers will be small, and their shape will resemble tentacles.

The transplant is performed as follows:

• Young plants can be planted several at a time in one large container, and then, when the crown grows, transplant them individually.
• A young plant is replanted every year, and an adult one every other year. Every year you need to purchase a pot four centimeters larger than before so that the root has the opportunity to strengthen and grow. At the same time, large trees should be handled when transplanting to avoid injury to the roots.

Fertilizing is carried out after the plant produces new shoots.

Reproduction of shefleras

Reproduction is carried out in three ways:

• cuttings;
• seeds;
• layering.

Seed propagation. The seed is soaked in a warm growth stimulant and then transplanted into the ground in winter.

For cuttings use trimmed tops. The length of the cutting should be from 12 to 16 centimeters. The branch is cut with a disinfected blade at an oblique. The cuttings are initially soaked and grown in a nutrient solution using hydroponics.

Reproduction by layering. The manipulation is carried out in March. Small cuts are made on the trunk, which are then covered with moss (the moss must be kept in a phytohormonal agent before this). The top of the bush is covered with film.

After thirty days, the first roots should appear. After two months, the upper part of the crown and the fresh horse system are trimmed and transplanted into a pot.

After some time, the roots will grow back. This type of propagation is suitable for mature, large plants.
