Growing morning glory seedlings

morning glory

Morning glory is a beautifully flowering climbing vine with flowers resembling gramophones.

Morning glory has earned the universal love of gardeners due to its rapid growth and ability to climb, which is most often used to build hedges.

Early in the morning, when dew appears on the grass, morning glory shows the world the beauty of its flowers. And closer to noon, so that the sun does not burn the delicate petals, the flowers close.

Most types of morning glory require growing seedlings before planting in the ground.

    Growing morning glory seedlings has some features:
  • seeds are sown in pots at the end of March or beginning of April, providing support for entwining;
  • seeds pre-soaked for a day are sorted, choosing the swollen ones;
  • the distance between the seeds should be quite large (at least 10-15 cm) so that the grown plants do not get entangled with each other;
  • morning glory is an undemanding plant, but loves good watering and does not tolerate low light;
  • when growing seedlings, it is necessary to monitor the shoots and leaves, treat with special solutions in case of rusty or yellow spots;
  • it is necessary to transplant the seedlings into a more spacious pot as they grow, along with the surface layer of soil;
  • when planting in a permanent place, you also need to preserve the surface layer of soil, or plant morning glory directly in a peat pot.

Cultivate morning glory seedlings with special attention, because... Morning glory is a poisonous plant and should only be grown outdoors.

Comments

I tried to grow it through seedlings, but then the seedlings suffered for a long time and took root. Now they go directly into the ground and also grow quickly, better than seedlings.
