Blueberry care

Blueberry berries

By organizing proper care for garden blueberries, you can get strong and high-yielding plants. First of all, care must meet the natural requirements of blueberries.

Garden blueberries have a shallow root system and therefore seedlings should not be planted deeply. It is better to choose a well-lit place for planting with loose, peat-enriched soil with a good drainage system. The depth of the hole when planting should be about 40 cm.

To water blueberries, garden water should be used in an acidic environment. Citric, malic or acetic acid is suitable for these purposes. Water the plant with caution, waiting until the earthen ball has completely dried, since stagnation of moisture is detrimental to blueberries. But the soil should not be allowed to dry out.

Young blueberry shoots grow well without additional fertilizers. But older plants should be fed with mineral fertilizers such as: superphosphate, magnesium, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium. It is best to use specialized mineral mixtures.

Caring for garden blueberries includes regular pruning of shoots. This allows you to rejuvenate the plant and obtain bushes with a lush crown and large fruits.
