Beneficial properties of tomatoes for the body

Tomatoes

We often eat these aromatic and tasty fruits. No pasta or pizza is complete without a tomato-based sauce. And in fresh spring salads, the tomato is an indispensable vegetable. But has anyone ever thought, while taking a bite of a lightly salted piece for the umpteenth time, what the beneficial properties of tomatoes are?

Tomatoes are a storehouse of minerals. They include:

  • Calcium is necessary for a growing body, as it strengthens bones, teeth and nails.
  • Potassium – our heart cannot do without it, and besides, potassium removes excess fluid from the body.
  • Iron – improves immunity, is necessary for the formation and increase of hemoglobin levels in the blood.

By eating tomatoes, we get B vitamins, vitamin E, K and C, as well as substances such as lycopene and serotonin.

It should be remembered that when cooked, some of the beneficial properties of tomatoes are significantly reduced. Tomatoes are best eaten fresh in combination with vegetable oil; fresh tomato juices are also good.

Tomatoes are a low-calorie product and are perfect for people watching their weight. But people suffering from allergies should limit their consumption of tomatoes or replace them with yellow varieties of tomatoes.

Great article, quite useful information. Thanks to the author for the list of vitamins contained in tomatoes - I looked everywhere and found it here)

My daughter and I love tomato juice. Very often we buy ready-made or made from tomato paste. We drink it with some bread, without thinking about the benefits, simply because it’s delicious. And it turns out that it is also very useful!

I also love tomato juice. But, unfortunately, it is not always possible to prepare it yourself. I drink from bags, although it’s hard to find something tasty.
