Growing cucumbers is very simple

Growing cucumbers

Pruning of cucumbers is carried out if, in the presence of a good vine, the plant does not produce fruit.

Stepchildren are extra shoots that take away strength from the vine, as a result of which cucumbers do not bear fruit. Usually, the side shoots in the axils of the first 5-6 leaves are removed, as well as the ovaries in the axils of the first 3-4 leaves. This must be done extremely carefully so as not to damage the main shoot and the flowers on it. It takes a little time and practice to learn to accurately and without problems distinguish the stepsons from the main stem.

If pinching cucumbers is done correctly and the plant is not damaged, then usually the first cucumbers appear by mid-July. To avoid damaging the plant, pinching cucumbers should be done in this way: With one hand, pull the leaf a little, and with the other, carefully pluck the stalk at the stem itself.

And remember that cucumbers are planted only when the shoots are 3-6 cm in size. So there is less work and you can see them better, and most importantly, the more the plant has already spent on the shoots, the less harvest you expect. If the stepsons have grown more than 20 cm, then you have lost 2.5-3.5 kg of harvest.
