Growing raspberries in the garden

Growing raspberries in the garden It has long been a common activity for gardeners. After all, raspberries are not only tasty, but also very healthy berries.
Raspberry is a perennial subshrub reaching a height of two or more meters. Often, owners of personal plots set aside areas along fences for planting raspberries. But this place is not very suitable for growing it.
A much better place for this fruit bush will be a well-lit corner of your site, especially one where the largest amount of snow accumulates in winter.
Planting bushes should begin in the fall, optimally from mid-September to mid-October. Mineral fertilizers are first applied to the soil. Keep a distance of 50 cm between plants in a row, and 2-2.5 meters between rows.
Growing raspberries on a personal plot requires compliance a few simple rules:
- the soil under the raspberry bushes should not dry out, therefore, to retain moisture, it should be mulched with sawdust or peat;
- It is worth knowing that raspberries produce a harvest on branches of the second year of growth;
- after harvesting, it is removed from the branch;
- Raspberries grow well in the same place for 10-12 years, after which the planting site should be changed;
- raspberries love fertilizers, but it is not recommended to apply them right away: first, you need to water the bushes with plain water and only after a few hours with water with fertilizer diluted in it, this will help avoid burns to the root system;
- raspberries are an early ripening plant, therefore, if pests or diseases are found on it, you should not use chemicals; it is better to use traditional methods of getting rid of pests.
