Caring for Echeveria or Stone Rose

Echeveria

Exotic guest from America Echeveria, better known as stone rose, is a perennial succulent plant. This unusual plant has won the favor of a huge number of domestic flower growers, first of all, thanks to its original appearance: indeed, fleshy, pointed leaves, which are collected in a rosette and have a bright green, purple or brownish color, crowned with a long inflorescence of small orange-pink-red flowers look extremely impressive. In addition, the stone rose, despite its exotic appearance, is a more than unpretentious plant: Echeveria care extremely simple and easy.

This plant is best placed in a bright, sunny place. Caring for echeveria involves regular, but fairly moderate and even meager watering of the plant (especially in winter). Echeveria, like many succulents, reacts extremely poorly to waterlogged soil, and excess moisture can cause rotting of the plant's roots and the appearance of powdery mildew. In winter, echeveria should be kept cool (room temperature should not exceed 10-12 degrees). This does not apply only to winter-blooming plants, which should be kept at room temperature. It is advisable to replant young plants annually, then this can be done every few years.Echeveria is best suited to special soil intended for cacti, or a mixture of turf soil and coarse sand.
