Eryngium - a cute thorn

Eryngium flatifolia, for example, that’s why it even got its second name – the palace. They hang it above the door to keep bad people out. This species is one of the most common and trouble-free to grow. It has been cultivated for a long time and successfully in all countries of the former USSR and beyond.

In folk medicine this plant is used as blood purifier and sedative. The eryngium has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antitoxic properties. It is used for whooping cough and bronchitis, scrofula and kidney stones, as well as for many other diseases of varying severity.
For a florist, eryngium is a real find. Picked during the flowering period, it retains shape and color perfectly, which is very useful when arranging long-lasting compositions and bouquets.
